Bamboo Fly Rods
When it comes to fly fishing rods, there are three main types that you can choose from. The types of fly fishing rods are mainly made from graphite, fiberglass, or bamboo. While there are a great amount of high quality graphite and fiberglass fly fishing rods that are available out there, bamboo fly rods take the crown overall. So that is what our main concern is here now, is nothing but high quality bamboo rods, which is always preferred over other types by all serious fisherman. If you are out in the wilderness, there is no better way to fish than fishing with natural earth ingredients, or the fishing rod anyhow.
Yes bamboo fly rods are the best there are, but they are not in every ones budget as they do tend to get pretty expensive. They have been crafted since the early 1800’ it is believed, and the finished product is nothing but history, design, and sport all combined into one work of art, the bamboo fly rod.
Now one might think that a bamboo fly rod is just a stick of bamboo that is cut, slap a fishing reel on it along with some eyes and you got a bamboo fly rod, this is definitely not the case. They are made by taking the bamboo shoot and breaking down into long panels, which then the panels are sanded down into the desired dimension. After that all of the panels are then glued together, the making of the rod is the most time consuming part, adding the accessories is the easy part of the design process in most cases. The time it takes to make a top notch quality bamboo fly rod takes about 100 hours, so with 100 hours of man labor, you can pretty much expect the price to be way up there.
So bamboo fly rods not only look pretty and all, but they also have a stiffness and strength to them unlike the graphite and other types of rods. This is good for fighting strong fish, and of course you can expect it to last a lot longer down the line also. A good bamboo fly rod will also be easy and smooth to wave back and forth when you are casting.
